An interesting morning around Percival Hill, thanks John.  You’re lucky to have such a nice patch of woodland so close, not to mention the waterbird corridor.  By coincidence the 2 birds we discussed were caught with bills open  -  but for different reasons:  the Shining Bronze was gulping a tiny caterpillar (below).  I think you are wise, given your position in the community, not to include the cuckoo on your week-end blitz sheets.    g
