I meant to put this on the chat line last week but got snowed under. The koel that usually turns up in late November arrived in Kaleen last Wednesday and was calling at 0513. He started in the central north of the suburb and slowly moved to the north. I usually had reports from Giralang residents before he snuck over the hill into Kaleen but he seemed to bypass that this year.
