Hi Just saw a White-winged Triller (single, male) in the trees along the bike path between Dickson wetland and playing fields. Just long enough to get a good, appreciative view and short enough so the dog didn't get restless. First one I have seen in this area. The wetlands are dominated by the Reed Warblers, at least 4 singing from different locations. Only a few ducks remain, a few Pacific Blacks, Wood Ducks, Coot, single Hardhead, but no Grebes, Cormorants, Heron etc. A couple of weeks ago there was a Wood Duck family with 23 chicks, which had shrunk to 7 chicks the week after. Today I didn't see any. Did watch the Swallows collect mud. There's a nest in the recess under the viewing platform, though I didn't go in to have a look as that would
get you really close and by the sounds there are also young ones in there. Susanne |
