At 11:30 AM today I heard a vaguely familiar call and noticed a male White-winged Triller in a nature-strip Box Elder. A moment later it was joined by a female and the pair moved along the street heading south. I have two records of trillers in the street during previous springs but both were during October.

Apropos butterflies, during the past two afternoons we’ve seen Painted Ladies sunning and pumping their wings on brickwork in the backyard.
