Last week Michael Lenz asked someone to check out possible lorikeet breeding event in Fadden. Since it's only a few mins away I've been checking the tree regularly. In last Saturday's brilliant weather two rainbow lorikeets were preening each other high in the tree. They did not approach any of the several hollows while I was there. This morning at 9.45 I stopped there again. No sign of the rainbows, but a single scaly-breasted lorikeet calling intermittently from a lower branch. After about 5 mins 2 crimson rosellas stopped by and moved toward a hollow -the SBL chased them away very aggressively. I did not see a 2nd lorikeet, despite staying there for 15 mins in all. Will continue to monitor....

The tree is single large eucalypt on one of the roundabouts on Dash Cct. It's a narrow little street with limited parking. It's quite close to Wanniassa Hills reserve, where there are often rainbow lorikeets, and not really all that far from Athllon Dr, where scaly-breasted lorikeets were observed in July.
