I was at Angle Crossing, Gigerline Nature Reserve, for a couple of hours late
morning today. I numerous very good sightings a single pair of Hooded Robins
(see attached photos), so can confidently verify those.

The Chestnut-rumped Hylacolas (Heathwrens) were more elusive. Unfortunately I
didn't get a single good look at the entire bird and specifically never got a
clear view of the breast - let alone a photo -, so am not able to be as
confident. However by eliminating other calls and varying their call using
Morecombe's iPhone app, as well as glimpses of clearly browner wrens with what
appeared to be slightly more solid tails, with flashes of chestnut rumps, I was
convinced enough to tick them on my own list.

It was very quiet with very few birds, clear sky, but cold and breezy. I am new
at counting birds, but for my own purposes recorded 14 Red-browed Finches, 8
Superb Fairy-wrens (one Male in breading plumage, 4 eclipse males (one of which
was part way to breeding plumage) and only 3 females which I thought was odd),
1 white-browed scrub wren, 2 Yellow-rumped Thornbills, an Australia Raven, a
White-Eared Honeyeater, a Speckled Warbler, and a Blackbird (male), but these
would all be under-estimates as I wasn't paying much attention to them while
searching and tracking the robins and heathwrens.

John

I spent much of the day in Gigerline Nature Reserve and found Hooded Robins and
Chestnut-rumped Hylacolas.
