Roger,

It is not a “Fan-tailed Pigeon” (Rock Dove) it is a little bit more fancy than that. My former Croatian neighbour used to keep “Tumbler Pigeons”. He would come home from work at around 5 pm and let his birds out. At around 5:10 a Peregrine would appear and “whack”, one less pigeon. He knew I worked on birds and asked me if I knew where the Peregrines nested so “we” could go out and kill them! He was less than impressed when I said I was on the Peregrines side. He also lost a just flying “Tumbler” to an Australian Hobby that got hit and killed about 10 feet above my head in my yard – the bird ended up stone dead at my feet!

Cheers,

Mark

I took this photo to-day at Kama Reserve, it looks slightly different to the normal Rock Dove, may be a fantail Pigeon. ID please.
