Sorry for including that photo. I had no idea a prior attachment was forwarded. It is not my photo (I don't have any bird photography equipment) but is one sent by Roger Williams on 8-6-2011. I opened that message (and others) to see what similar things had been reported before and plagiarised the typing for my message and the photo unintentionally got included (though my view of the bird today was similar though very brief).

About an hour ago from inside my house I heard a ruckus from Pied Currawongs and Magpies and went out to see why. Following the direction I came across a Collared Sparrowhawk holding a still weakly struggling bird that looks rather large for it. As the Sparrowhawk saw me approach it dropped the bird which was a Crested Pigeon which struggled along with a thump crashing into the base of a house wall.
