Nice observation, Philip.  This encounter (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oy4kNbszwyI) was outside my back door a couple of weeks ago.

About an hour ago from inside my house I heard a ruckus from Pied Currawongs and Magpies and went out to see why. Following the direction I came across a Collared Sparrowhawk holding a still weakly struggling bird that looks rather large for it. As the Sparrowhawk saw me approach it dropped the bird which was a Crested Pigeon which struggled along with a thump crashing into the base of a house wall.
