Julienne and I wandered out into the Hoskinstown Plain to check the Swamp that has been so productive recently.  Alas it is as dry as, so no waterbirds.

Our highlights were:
  • 60+ Red-rumped parrots perched in a pine tree windbreak;
  • 1 Golden-headed cisticola
  • 7+ Flame robins(at least 3 full colour males)
  • 1 Diamond Firetail
On the way home I again encountered the flock of ~30 Double-barred Finches reported last Saturday.  This time they were in the company of an equal number of House Sparrows and European Goldfinches.

On a separate note a friend has asked if anyone knows a vendor of ready-made nest boxes?  My friend is after about a dozen, in a range of sizes to go from pardalotes to Kookaburras.  He doesn't have the time to make them up from scratch but could be interested in kits which just require a modest amount of assembly.  Does anyone have a source of such items?
