YOU ARE INVITED TO HELP LAUNCH OUR BOOK!
This is the first attempt to track down and explore the origins of every Australian bird name ever used in English, as well as the detailed derivations of every scientific name. It’s about words, history, culture, people - and of course most of all about birds! It’s also a blend of scholarship, humour and whimsy.

TO BE LAUNCHED BY: Professor Bill Gammage, historian, enthusiastic bird-watcher, winner of the
2012 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for The Biggest Estate.

ON: Saturday 22 June, 2pm.

AT: Botanical Bookshop, Australian National Botanic Gardens.
