Seen yesterday and today a pair of lapwings sitting at the base of a light tower in the middle of the roundabout at the intersection of William Slim and Baldwin Drives on the boundary between Mackellar and Giralang. I thought it a bit surprising but Pizzey and Knight states that both lapwing species breed in southern Australia from June to October, so this pair are a few weeks early.
