Sad news I
think....thought I saw a road kill Little Eagle on the Barton at the
nth bound overtaking lane up the hill near Vallencia Estate. I've seen them
irregularly over the years here presumably hunting rabbits along the
creek line. Would've stopped but I was late for the footy @
Manuka.
Bluddy good news - A
pair at my place Sunday afternoon (Yass River) - one gliding down the gully and
passed about 10ft over my head! Definitely the closest I've ever been to
one. I think I actually called them in because I was whistling for
foxes. Of which, after the weekend, there are 3 less now to prey on the
firetails, treecreepers, robins etc :-) I've also been getting Diamond Firetail
responses to the whistle! I've never seen Little Eagles in this
area and always wondered why, the previously mentioned ones being the
closest.
