I've had a couple of unusual birds in/over my garden recently. Yesterday afternoon a Whistling Kite flew over. It appeared to be following the Ginninderra Creek corridor from the north and it eventually returned north. Mostly likely it was one of the WKs that have been frequenting the Mulligan's Flat Large Dam lately.

This morning I had a Yellow Thornbill in the garden. They are supposed to like trees with feathery foliage, and this time it was true to form, being in a scraggly clump of Silver Wattles - the other couple of occasions I've had them they have been in eucalypts.

I also had a very active and vocal pair of Golden Whistlers - a female and an immature plumaged male. They spent a lot of time chasing each other around.

Duncan.
