At 08:00 today I saw an Eurasian Skylark on Holt Oval ( Cnr. Southern Cross Drive & Beaurepaire Crescent). Saw one there in the spring of 2008. This is only the second time I’ve  seen one in a suburban environment if I dismiss the Lake Ginninderra peninsula as such.

Had the binos on it for 30 seconds, and could discern a small crest. Also, as it scuttled and then stopped, it held its hindquarters still. So I guess that separates it from the crestless, restless Australian Pipit.
