Subject: [canberrabirds] Forensic ornithology
This morning there was a trail of destruction down the side of my house. Methinks the neighbour’s cat may be sleeping of a large meal. My first thought was that it had killed a juvenile magpie, but the breast feathers look quite black, not a white feather to be seen anywhere, and the longest feathers (wing primaries?) were too short for a magpie. Could this be the remains of a blackbird? Will an Indian myna be next, or is that too much to hope for?
