I was woken at 4:40 this morning by the distinctive trilling of young boobooks in trees close to our house. I got a good look at two in the light of a torch and could hear, but not see, another one in a neighbour's tree. Two young boobooks also put in an appearance in my yard almost exactly a year ago on 6 February 2012.
