visited CB early this morning and a couple of notable groups of birds.
following Martin's report recently of a mixed flock at Carwoola, I
encountered one at CB. About 40 red-browed finches, 10 silvereyes, 6
fairy wrens, and 4 speckled warblers - all in a group moving around
near the Mugga Lane entrance to CB. Near my favourite dam, a couple
of trees yielded 2 grey fantails, 3 rufous whistlers, a white throated
gerygone, several white-winged trillers, about a dozen dusky
woodswallows, 3 black-faced cuckoo-shrikes and a noisy group of young
crimson rosellas. most of the woodswallows, one of the cuckoo-shrikes,
one of the rufous whistlers were also juveniles. I didn't venture
over the far side at all, but stayed around the Mugga lane side, over
to about the middle. A lot of noisy friarbirds around - must have seen
about 15, with around 10 in one group near old zoo. Gang-gangs and
Yellow-tailed black cockatoos present in that area too
