Yesterday morning 10am, on the Northern side (fire trail) of the Molongolo below the Tuggeranong overpass  there were 12 Darters perched in the same tree overhanging the river and a nest with 3 very hungry creamy fluffy young.

Also a bit further up towards the Tuggeranong overpass, on the bike path side of the river, there were at least five Little Pied Cormorant nests with dependent young in one of the them ( I saw one bird fly in to feed young)  There were about 10 Little Pied Comorant but I think there are probably more – also a couple of Darters in this location but again – hard to count due to the blackberries.  Next time take a machete?

In addition on the new lake which is now gradually filling ( in from the Cotter Road lights on Streeton Drive) – 3 Shoveler are still there after 2 weeks (one is smaller) and Red-kneed Dotterel – and some Hardheads + lots of Coot, Wood Ducks, Grey Teal and Pacific Black Ducks and one Silver Gull.

Cheers

Jean
