Julian,
There was one Cattle Egret at Kelly's on Sunday. You had to look carefully
but there is a bit of buff breeding plumage on the back of the head and on
one side of the neck. Well done finding the Australian Painted Snipe. Was
that your first ever?
Cheers,
Mark

Subject: cattle egret @ kelly's swamp
Whilst birding at kelly's on Monday, I noticed that one egret looked
considerably smaller than the other two around it. I toyed with the idea of
it being an Intermediate, and the others being Greats, but I couldn't get
past how much this guy looked like a Cattle Egret.
Anyone have any thoughts? this would be the first time I have seen a cattle
agree at Kelly's, although I have seen them elsewhere.
Apologies for the terrible photo, and the size of the photo - had to scale
down to get below 100kb. You can get a size scale from the coots.
