Went to Forde today for short time, and found the Painted Snipe at last!!! (7th try) As Mark said, it was in the shallow wet depression lined with drying mud. I am doing something of a Big Year this year, so having APS as the legitimate 100th bird is very exciting and memorable!!!!!!

Bird was in the open actively feeding, prodding water in the shallow water logged depression between main Forde Pond and longish pond beside Horse Park Drive.

Afternoon all, At 1345 hrs this afternoon I saw a male Australian Painted Snipe at the Forde Ponds. The bird was seen in a small wet depression behind the shallow pond obvious from Horse Park Drive and in front of the main pond driving from the direction of Goorooyarroo NR on HPD. It was with two Latham’s Snipe and several Masked Lapwings. A rarities report will be sent to the panel in due course. Mark
