Apologies for not reporting in a much more timely fashion, but I saw roughly 10 or 15 black shouldered kites separately and at different times around the horse paddocks at the bottom of Coolemon Ridge (Namatjira Drive) over the early spring season (i can't be more specific with dates or numbers due to poor memory). I didn't look for nests and didn't notice young. I also saw a few at various times at JW, on lightposts over Northbourne Ave (around Deakin) and around Molonglo. Due to these obs i was under the impression that black shouldered kites were fairly numerous and therefore not newsworthy!
