G'day Con,
My guess is that they are very stylised Barn Owls with the possibility also
of the similar Grass Owl.
Cheers,
Mark

Subject: Owl - but what species? Plus CIMAG Common Myna
Bonus alert.
I took the attached photo on the way back from enjoying the 9pm fireworks
display. It is part of the entrance/foyer artwork for 10 Rudd Street and,
IMHO, well worth a visit. They are somewhat easier on the eye than the that
Bronto of Owls, the Belco Public Art Owl. These were the only feathered
nightbirds I spotted during our New Year's Eve trek into the Heart of Civic
Darkness.
On the way thither, at around 2030, I counted a flock of 28 Common Mynas
which appeared to be headed for a communal roost somewhere in the vicinity
of Barry Drive, Watson Street and Marcus Clarke Street.
regards
Con
