For the second sighting only in the 3 years I've been photographing birds, I got an excellent look at a Painted Button Quail on Mt. Ainslie today. I was on my exercise walk up to the top and back - and found the bird half way down, just off the path. Alas, no camera! By the time I'd been home to get one and returned, the quail was nowhere to be found. Having lugged my monster lens so far up the hill, I settled for a few shots of a community of Superb Fairy Wrens that became quite curious at my presence.
