In the two large Australian Gull species beak is by far the safest way to separate them. This is a kelp as the beak is slim :).

Subject: [canberrabirds] Kelp or Pacific?

I photographed this gull at the Waterworks reserve in Hobart a few days ago.  There were quite a number of adult kelp gulls on the water but this juvenile bird wanted to have nothing to do with them.  What is it?
