Hi All

I was having a rehearsal with the Canberra Youth Orchestra tonight, playing the Sorcerer's Apprentice, and so too was an Eastern Koel.  For much of the rehearsal the koel felt obliged to participate in the rehearsal.  Most of the time it was out of time with the orchestra, which is understandable, as it was outside and unable to see the conductor.  However, during the contra-bassoon solo, the koel got it right.  It performed as a call-and-response duet with the contra-bassoon, much to the amusement of many of the musicians.  This was short-lived, however, as a few minutes later a squabble occurred amongst some other birds, possibly noisy miners.

Matt.
