Fired up by the report from Steve Holliday and Yarden Oren that the Painted
Snipes were back at Kelly's Swamp this morning I went to investigate at
about 10.30am, hoping to get a better photo of this species than the ones I
got last summer. I was rewarded with glimpses of one PS slinking around
amongst the reeds immediately in front of the Bittern Hide over a period of
about 30 minute, but alas it presented no photo opportunities.

After lunch I returned to Kelly's en route home from an errand in Civic
"just in case" and there, right in front of the Bittern hide, was one
resting quietly - still amongst the reeds, but this time offering a
half-decent photo opportunity.

Thanks Steve and Yarden.
