Up to 20 Superb Parrots feeding close to Frogmouth nesting tree at Mount
Roger reserve yesterday evening - then flew off as getting dark
presumably to roosting spot.
Later that evening i heard 2 Boobook Owls at the end of the small cul de
sac where i live. They appeared to be calling in response to each other.
This is the first time in 4 years that i have heard Boobooks in the
Spence area. I am interested if anyone else has been hearing Boobook
Owls in their suburbs recently? When is the breeding season for these
owls? For how long would they be calling (what is the length of their
hooting season?) or could they just be passing through? Do they like
suburban areas ?
Cheers
Tim Birch
