well those of us who get excited about the odd rainbow lorikeet or golden whistler in our GBS sites have been well and truly upstaged.  well done Lindsay!

Yes, it is indeed the first Little Bittern in the GBS. GBS species number 242.

Rhonda and I were sitting on our back deck enjoying lunch when out of the long grass at the lake edge 15m from us stepped a LITTLE BITTERN.  It quickly ducked back into the grass.  Our mad scramble for cameras was rewarded when it reappeared (see enclosed).  I believe this one is a male but happy to be corrected.  Is this a first for a GBS site??? Incidentally we live in Jerrabomberra, NSW on the shore of Lake Jerrabomberra
