Just got back from a ride around the east basin, with a stop at the wetlands/sewerage works.
Got some excellent birds, decent views of 2 Baillons crakes, intermediate egret, BT naive hen and sacred kingfisher at the wetlands, and a pair of black winged stilts and nesting black faced cuckoo shrike the highlights at the sewerage works.
We also saw pink eared ducks at both locations, a species I have not noted for some time.

Everything seemed very active at Jerra wetlands this morning. There were 3 Pink-eared duck, 3 Latham’s snipe, 2 Nankeen heron and the BT native-hen all feeding quite openly.  There was also a pelican that appeared to get tangled up in its own neck whilst having a yawn. Not sure if it was just having a stretch, but it sat like that for a while. Possibly the pelican equivalent of the Downward Dog.

Cheers
Phil
