As far as I know this was first noticed in Dec 2008 when I was trying out
my new kayak. I reported to the database and to Chris who was interested in
the nesting of gulls on nearby boats. Some database entries got mixed up,
but one of us made this report on 10/12/2008 ...

I can't recall that anyone else has commented on this, but I reckon you're
right Peter. I paddled by there approx 7.15pm today but didn't have time to
land. There were hundreds of birds including many in situ on the ground,
looking very much like they were "on". I saw one downy chick and many young
juveniles. While they were not actually swooping, the birds were raucous
and hovering over me as I paddled by. Hopefully I'll get a chance for a
closer look between now and the weekend, but in my (non) expert opinion I'd
say there was a major breeding event in progress.

Cheers

Rod
