In the nether regions of Belconnen's Holt this morning (11.30) over
Strathnairn's homestead dam were two White-necked herons.
They were very vocal and "chasing" each other during several flyings-past over
the dam. Sometimes they were quite low but they never settled.
Their calls and intrusion attracted the attention of Willie Wagtails, ravens
and Magpie larks.
I read into the behaviour that they were nest-site choosing and that
Strathnairn's dam proved inadequate after less than 5 minutes inspection.
A magical, if noisy moment, my seeing unusual birds.
