We have just has few days away, bird watching around the Weddin Mountains. We
have been going there off and on for years. There are east side of Weddin. We
were at Holy Camp when we saw them, some flying very high and now and again,
some would perch, temporarily on a dead branch. As Geoofrey remarked a couple
of weeks ago, it was impossible flying to count them
Along the road, approaching Seaton's farm entrance to Ben Hall campground, west
side of Weddin, we saw a parrot that we had not seen before. In fact there
were 3 of them, perched on the nearby fence watching us; so we had good look.
They were Mallee Ringnecks. How common are they? In our "Species Observed in
the Weddin Mountains" they are not mentioned. This could be an old pamphlet.
In a later one the mention was : "Australian parrot"
We also saw, not far from the ringnecks, a brown songlark, in full breeding
plumage, singing it's heart out. Wonderful
Elizabeth
