Dear All, especially plant enthusiasts,

I am planting a hedge across the front of my house facing north with some protection from the north westerlies.  As it can't be high maintenance (a little pruning is OK) it needs to be something that isn't large nor terribly wide like a correa reflexa, but something little birds could hide in as well as find food. Around a metre to a metre and a half is fine, but I'd probably prune it down to a metre. The COG website on 'conserving birds' refers to a 'list below' but there is no list I can find.  Can anyone advise or suggest a good reference?  I have lots of native plant books, but this request is particular to my needs.

Regards,
Jude
