Mine was male http://www.flickr.com/photos/ozjulian/7406104018/ and although I thought there was more than one when I first saw it/them, I didn’t notice a female.
As others have mentioned, it was keeping company with White-throated TCs at times.
Also, mine spent the entire time feeding on trees in an area that I would describe as natural Black Mtn bush, smaller trees, dryish, no obvious plantings. Though perhaps it’s the extra lushness/bigger trees/density of other parts of the gardens that makes it tolerable for them. Maybe we don’t understand what their preferred habitat really is? Wouldn’t we expect them in Rainforest Gully if anywhere at anbg, where there are large smooth-barked trees in a denser environment?

I'm pleased that the initial RTBC continues to persist in the Gardens, and it is now a pair!
Previously I had only ever seen RBTCs in mountain forests (Tidbinbilla, Warks Road, Monga NR &c) and had assumed they had poor dispersal abilities. Obviously these ANBG birds have found a little patch of ideal (albeit artifical) habitat, but it must be least 50kms as the Treecreeper flies to the nearest suitable habitat to the Gardens, so their dispersal abilities are obviously not that bad.
The other interesting thing is that after I and others first saw the male, he was joined by a female. Presumably she was there all along, but still, a pair dispersing together? Isn't that unusual?
Has anyone else ever seen a RBTC away from its preferred habitat?

Hi all
There was a single Brown Gerygone at the gardens this morning. We saw it on
the edge of the main rainforest gully, just up from the Brittle Gum Lawn. I
picked it up on call, and everyone on this morning's COG outing had a look
at it.
We also saw the male Rose Robin over near the CSIRO gate, where other folks
had seen it earlier this week. We also saw a female about 100m back towards
the visitors centre from the male.
No sign of the Red-browed Treecreeper, although we couldn't recall exactly
where others had seen it.
