Hi All. I thought you might all be intrigued by the behavior of a willie-wagtail in Lyneham today. I was outside Lyneham High School this afternoon at around 5:30 to 5:40. As you can appreciate, it was rather dark. However, there was a willie-wagtail sitting on the ground in the shadow (I couldn't tell what it was at this point, too dark). As I approached, it burst up, into the bright light of the spotlights with an angry chikka-chikka-chikka. It then proceeded to catch a bug flying around the lights. As soon as I moved away, it went back to its place in the shadow. I can only presume it was using the last few minutes of light to catch some dinner. Regards, Matt. |
