I've seen feral pigs around there years ago so it could have been Mummy pig with a couple piglets in tow running through the scrub.

Possible candidates:

An escaped lemur, an escaped racoon, a Tassie Tiger, an optical illusion or a UFO (unidentified furry object)  :-)
