Hi all
Three of us left early to spend the morning in Orroral valley. On the drive
down we caught a glimpse of a weird creature at the narrow one lane causeway
just before Fitz's Hill. It was the size of a wombat, brown-black in colour
with a thick black/white striped tail. We pulled over immediately but could
find no sign of it.
Highlights along the Orroral Valley Heritage Walk were a single Golden-headed
Cisticola, close views of a pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles perched prominently in
a dead tree, and Flame Robins. At the old tracking station site we recorded
Collared Sparrowhawk and Satin Bowerbird.
As previously reported we found some 4 Crescent Honeyeaters in banksia by the
Nursery Swamp trail car park.
Later while relaxing at the Orroral River picnic area we watched a female
Spotted Quail-thrush.
All up a pretty good day birding.
Cheers
Marnix
