Circling high overhead a large ?pale morph Little Eagle, or Whistling Kite - with a darkish leading edge to the wing and narrow gold line across the wings and widening to a patch of the same colour towards the lower end of the wing. The wings ended in black fingers. The tail was squared off rather than wedged. The bird was too far away to see legs or bill detail.
The ride along the bike path today is glorious with brilliant autumn leaves along the swollen river and new exotic plantings next to the track. Small birds were Red-browed Firetails, Superb Wrens, Speckled Warblers, Brown Thornbills, Silvereye, two Double-barred Finch, Grey Fantails.
To my surprise 12 Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos, 3 of which were squarking to be fed, and one being fed were perched close to the track in Radiata Pines for quite a while .
I saw one female Darter and heard a few calling. One Little Pied Cormorant and one Little Black Cormorant.
Closer to Duffy, along the creek being modified as a result of the Molongolo development, 2 Black Shouldered Kites, one White-faced Heron and approx. 20 Wood-ducks.
