Yesterday watched a Hindi movie, Parineeta, set in Calcutta, with daughter in law. The name Koel appeared in the subtitles for one of the main actresses. It is a girl’s name in India, named after the bird as its call is regarded as melodious. Ria ( river in Bengali) imitated the call perfectly. It is the same as our seasonal visitor. The koel call occurred a few times in the movie.
