Thank you once again for all the people who responded to my request – I’m somewhat surprised by the results.

Subscribers may be interested to know that of the 11 responders, 4 had not seen/heard them after the first week of March (8/3), 4 last heard them in the second week (up to 15/3), with 3 still having heard them last week, as late as 22 March.  There were in Narrabundah and Ainslie.

So who knows whether one or two are still lingering around – so please keep an ear out for them.  Even if you think they have gone from your area, the experience is that there have been some surprise late calls.

According to my information most Koels left Canberra about the 7-8 March, just after the second heavy rain on 3-4 March.  The last record provided to me is of one calling on 12 March.

Does anyone have a more recent observation, or still have koels in your area?
