Here in Carwoola, which is not on a major migration path for YFHE, they have been appearing in groups of 3 to 6 for a couple of weeks.  Also the Scarlet robins have come down a bit earlier than usual, and Dusky Woodswallows are gathering in larger groups (after being fairly absent this "Summer"). 

I reckon Mr Zimmerman got it right: the times they are a changing.

Just saw approx ten YFH here in Watson in migrating mode with their usual chip chip calls.  A bit earlier than usual ? Last Sat saw a juvenile Koel which was calling but no hosts were in sight.
