Took a six-am trip out to the ponds and the wetlands today.
Mostly pretty quiet, but managed a total of 35 species nonetheless.

Birds seen were:
Black Swan
Australian Wood Duck
Australasian Shoveler (2 or 3 pair on the sewerage ponds, the first I have seen in a long while)
Grey Teal
Pacific Black Duck
Hardhead
The much debated Blue-Billed Ducks
Australasian Grebe
Hoary Headed Grebe
Rock Die
Crested Pigeon
Little Pied Cormorant
Little Black Cormorant (is it me or are there lots more than usual this year?)
Great Egret
Intermediate Egret
White Faced Heron
Nankeen Night Heron (perhaps one of this seasons young, not fully coloured)
Australian White Ibis
Purple Swamphen
Dusky Moorhen
Eurasian Coot
Black Fronted Dotterels (lots on the drying-mud pond at the sewerage works)
Sulphur Crested Cockatoo
Crimson Rosella
Red Rumped Parrot
Superb Fairy Wren
White Browed Scrubwren
Yellow Rumped Thornbill
Noisy Miner
Black Faced Cuckoo-Shrike
Australian Magpie
Magpie Lark
Red-Browed Finch
House Sparrow
Australian Reed Warbler
And we also head masked lapwings, but couldn't see them

Cheers,
Julian
