Sure
these data are convincing. There is little room to debate that the species is
recently increasing in Canberra. This in response to A request for information
about Noisy Miners, as this species is causing some concern. What Martin has provided is broadly
similar to what I would have done. Is that the
information sought?
There
has been a huge amount of study of the species over decades that might relate to
why this species is causing some concern. That is not just about its population
levels, but very likely about its exclusive use of habitat, keeping out other
birds, impact of that on communities, insect infestations of plants, etc.

-----Original Message----- I received a request for information about Noisy
Miners, as this species is causing some concern. I have put a summary of
what I have dug out of the GBS database at http://franmart.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/noisy-miners-in-cog-garden-bird-survey.html.From: martin butterfield [ Sent: Wednesday, 15 February 2012 4:29 PM To: COG List Subject: [canberrabirds] Noisy Miners It seems clear that the species is increasing in GBS sites (both in frequency and abundance) and possibly that the larger flocks forming in Autumn are being more commonly reported.
