Sure these data are convincing. There is little room to debate that the species is recently increasing in Canberra. This in response to A request for information about Noisy Miners, as this species is causing some concern. What Martin has provided is broadly similar to what I would have done. Is that the information sought?
 
There has been a huge amount of study of the species over decades that might relate to why this species is causing some concern. That is not just about its population levels, but very likely about its exclusive use of habitat, keeping out other birds, impact of that on communities, insect infestations of plants, etc.

I received a request for information about Noisy Miners, as this species is causing some concern.  I have put a summary of what I have dug out of the GBS database at http://franmart.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/noisy-miners-in-cog-garden-bird-survey.html.

It seems clear that the species is increasing in GBS sites (both in frequency and abundance) and possibly that the larger flocks forming in Autumn are being more commonly reported.
