Ditto for the below hollow in Brockman St, Nick, also in an E mannifera.  It was excavated by galahs about 8 years ago and used for successive seasons. Bees appeared a year ago, massed at the entrance  -  as they were again just a few weeks ago.  You can see honeycomb inside the existing aperture.  The filling over most of the hollow resembles wood, but must be some kind of wax.  If the bees ever leave I suppose birds will re-excavate and the cycle continue.

In previous years I have seen this nesting hollow on the median strip of Captain Cook Crescent in Griffith being used by Galahs (eg see http://bioacoustics.cse.unsw.edu.au/archives/html/canberrabirds/2010-11/msg00151.html). However, in the last few weeks the hollow has been taken over by bees.
