This morning, in a 30-meter stretch of exotic shrubbery next door, we located three Common Blackbirds’ nests. Two contained a sitting female and one two tiny nestlings. The rains of the 2010/11 summer and so far this season have augured well for blackbirds – they don’t have to auger so laboriously for earthworms.
