Some years ago, I spent a few hours walking around Mulligans Flat on a Sunday morning not seeing anything very unusual or exciting. I came home frustrated. Then I heard unfamiliar little sounds and saw a flash of red in a bush in my backyard. As I inspected, I discovered a Rufous Fantail which chose to stay in my garden for most of the afternoon. Notably, there had been a bit of thunder that day.
Moral: if you want a good birding experience, don’t leave home!

Seen several times outside our bedroom window this morning. Haven't heard it call for the last half hour, so I assume it has already moved on. Another new one for the GBS chart.
