thanks to Dan and Anthony (and Freedom Charters) for once again putting on fantastic pelagic trips this past weekend out of Eden. I'm sure a proper trip report will be written up, noting how special it was to see Mottled petrel, Cooks petrel and a White-chinned petrel, but for myself (and some others) the bird highlight was Wandering albatross - a newie for me, and they were seen at close quarters on both days. Dolphins and seals impressive on Saturday, while the Sunday trip was treated to what were possibly the most spectacular views of humpback whales anyone could wish for - a one adult breaching less than a hundred metres away while its companion adult swam towards us, surfacing only about 20m away before disappearing under the boat. Stunning!
