The story behind the photos. These photos were taken today on the track leading to Booroomba Rocks car park. I went looking for the spotted quail thrush which I failed to find, too many people. Driving on the way back, this Painted Button-quail was walking across the road. I believe it is a female, but let me know what you think. I was expecting her to fly off, but instead she continued to forage along the road up to and along side the car while I’m trying to get my camera from the back seat and get photos of a bird that I have never seen before. She then looked up as if to ask what I was doing, she was actually too close to take photos, then casually turned back the way she came and back into the wooded area. It made for a very interesting morning.
