Took a short walk there yesterday.  Usual stuff.  Noticed a male goshawk chattering persistently and territorially just down the path from the herons.  From the muted alarm call, might be one of the diffident pair from a bit further north.  If so, the possibility of one of those hair-raising swoop zones would be remote.
